Many times we have heard: "you have to lie down in the hot sun to get a good tan." That is a wrong thought! Even being "out of the sun" you can achieve that skin tone you want so much. Doing it is not as difficult as many claim, especially if you follow these 6 tips to take color in the shade.
With these tips and tricks, you can get a shady tan much faster than you think. Banish that misconception of having to torture yourself with long sessions in the inclement sun, even exposing your health. Theoretically, you can also sit in the shade in order to get tanned skin. To have a better idea of what we are talking about, you must know a little about the behavior of the sun's rays.
The sun's rays are all on earth, only a fraction of them make up ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Also, for educational purposes, we are going to divide them into UV-A rays and UV-B rays. UV-B rays are used for tanning, while UV-A rays are the culprits of skin aging. However, UV-A and UV-B rays do not directly affect the earth and living beings in general. These break through the clouds and remain suspended or reflected in the air, making tanning in the shade possible.
Tips to get a tan in the shade and without risks
Just thinking about getting a shade tan may seem counterintuitive at first. But, as we explained above, certain peculiarities of the sun's rays make taking color in the shade possible. However, if you want to get an even and healthy tan on your skin, you should follow the tips and tricks below.
1. Find a free and safe space in the shade
It doesn't matter if you are under a tree in your favorite park or an umbrella on a busy beach. In the shade, your body can receive an average of 30 to 40 percent of UV radiation. The percentage will depend on various factors such as your location, the cloudiness and the time of day.
If you stand on a balcony surrounded by high-rise buildings or a forest, you will receive less global radiation. So, if you want to achieve a good tan in the shade, place your umbrella in a free area.
2. Take advantage of the mirror effect of water
In case you didn't know, water has the property of reflecting the sun's rays. So, find a spot near a body of water so you can quickly tan in the shade. Magically this also works if the sky is cloudy!
3. Protect yourself from the adverse effects of radiation
Although the UV-B radiation from tanning in the shade is not that intense, you should not forget that it is present. Therefore, you should not underestimate her under any circumstances. Especially if you have sensitive skin or go unprotected for a long time, you should also wear sunglasses.
It is not easy to estimate the amount of radiation your skin actually receives in shade protection. It depends on how many bushes; trees or buildings are around you. For this reason, sun protection is also absolutely essential when sunbathing in the shade.
Tip: Use a certified sunscreen or make a sunscreen with homemade ingredients. In addition to protecting your health, you will be counteracting the effects of aging due to exposure to UV-A radiation.
4. Move around to get an even tan
If you want to get as even a shade tan as possible, you must continually change positions. For example, you can play with the ball so that UV radiation can affect all sides of your body.
5. Don't forget to hydrate
Even if you are in the shade, drinking water is still important. As with direct sunlight, your skin needs moisture to stay soft and supple. Drinking water also helps keep your tan on for longer.
6. Take care of your skin after the shadow bath
Not only after sunbathing, but also after tanning in the shade, you must maintain your skin. For this you can use a nutrient-rich moisturizer or an after-sun lotion. The more moisture, the less likely it is that your skin will peel and say goodbye to your tan.
